School Clubs and Activities Update By Kalia and Hiba

Since it's almost three months into the school year, are you in a club yet?
Screen Shot 2015-10-16 at 11.40.58 AM.pngSome clubs and activities are after school. For example, PFAA lets Leading Edge students join a Beginning Strings class, for violin, viola, cello, and double bass. Also, some clubs are at lunch, like Chess Club. Chess Club is for chess-lovers to learn or practice chess. It’s held in Mrs. Meindl’s classroom. Also held there at lunch, Leadership is for leading events and occasions. In addition, there is also Taiko. In order for the current Taiko members to get in, there were auditions and sign-ups. Taiko Drumming is a Japanese percussion with big, round drums. Math Club also started. Math Club is for people who love math and want more! There is also Gardening Club, where you plant plants and work on the garden. It’s a new club just started this year! They have been battling the weeds and would love a few more members to come out and join them Fridays at lunch! Yearbook club is like Taiko in that they had an application earlier in the year and selected members. The members of that club have been hard at work taking pictures and and setting up this year’s yearbook to be published in June. DSC00083.JPG

As you can see, Leading Edge has a wide variety of clubs and activities, with more to come. Don’t worry if you’re not in a club, I’m sure there will be more and more clubs starting up with many fun things to do. There might even be a club that will include your favorite hobby! So make sure to join a club, and have fun!

Chess Club:

Chess Club is really fun! I love playing chess. It is a really great sport. Chess is a board game of strategic skill for two players, played on a checkered board. Each player begins the game with sixteen pieces that are moved and used to capture opposing pieces according to precise rules. The object is to put the opponent's king under a direct attack from which escape is impossible ( checkmate ). I love to play chess in Ms. Meindl’s room for all of lunch and just eat a snack while playing the best game on Earth (“chess”.)

    1. Thank You! Hiba and I agreed to do Clubs and Afterschool activities, since she wanted to do Chess Club and I wanted to do Afterschool Activities. We decided to give a lot of attention to it, since it is one of the most ongoing things in LE! :)
